The pieces represent Christian Service and all the people who are a part of it, with their different talents, sizes, shapes, and forms. The mosaic is made of broken pieces of glass, all colors, shapes and sizes. Each piece is essential to make the mosaic complete. When the volunteer made this mosaic they learned that there are rainbows, not only in the daytime, but at night. So there is a moon in the mosaic. Most of us think of rainbows in daytime because that’s when we see them. We feel that this is symbolic of Christian Service because we believe that every person who becomes a part of our mosaic, even though he or she leaves for another job, to go to another city or another interest, that person is always a part of the mosaic, just no longer the visible part. Those who have become a part of Christian Service are a part of all us. That goes along with the idea of the communion of saints. We believe that those who have died are still part of our community, on a different side, a new form of life, but very much a part of us always. We remember everyone who has been a part of this work in our prayers and thoughts, and in beautiful memories.
